The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) on Thursday approved a Rs. 1.89/unit reduction in the electricity price under the quarterly tariff adjustment
In a notification, the power regulator said the cumulative reduction reflected the fuel charges adjustment from April through June 2025. It said the final notification would be issued by the federal government, adding the revised tariff would apply to consumers of all power distribution companies (DISCOs), including K-Electric. However, it would not apply to lifeline or prepaid consumers.
The adjustment would appear in August bills, it said, adding it would be effective for the three months spanning August through October 2025. The total relief to consumers nationwide due to the revision is expected to be Rs. 55.8 billion.
Last month, NEPRA had notified a 50 paisa/unit cut for all consumers, apart from K-Electric users who had received a Rs. 4.03/unit cut, under monthly fuel cost adjustment. This relief was reflected in the July bills of all eligible consumers. The federal government has also abolished the provincial electricity duty on power bills with effect from July 1.
