U.A.E. Offers Visa-free Entry for Pakistani Diplomatic, Official Passports

Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates have signed several agreements aimed at boosting bilateral ties, including establishing a joint task force to promote investments and exempting visa requirements for diplomatic and official passports.

According to the Foreign Office, the agreements were signed during the 12th session of the Pakistan-U.A.E. Joint Ministerial Commission held in Abu Dhabi on June 24. It said the brotherly countries had also signed a Memorandum of Understanding for collaborative work on “Artificial Intelligence and Digital Economy” during the meeting co-chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar and U.A.E. Deputy Premier and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

In a posting on X, Dar confirmed that he and his U.A.E. counterpart signed an agreement on mutual visa exemption for the holders of diplomatic and official passports of both countries. “This important step reflects our shared resolve to further strengthen our fraternal ties and deepen institutional collaboration across all levels,” he wrote.

The formal proceedings were preceded by a working group meeting of the Joint Ministerial Commission under the leadership of Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Bajwa and U.A.E. Minister of State Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh.

The ministerial meet-up reviewed the full scope of bilateral relations and agreed on concrete measures to strengthen cooperation in trade, banking, culture, investment, aviation, railways, energy, food security, climate change, defense, healthcare, manpower, higher education and information technology. Both sides emphasized enhancing institutional mechanisms and promoting inter-ministerial coordination, said the Foreign Office.

Both countries reaffirmed their commitment to peace and stability in the region. They also signed a protocol outlining procedural frameworks for follow-up actions, coordination through sectoral working groups and facilitation for reciprocal visits.

The U.A.E. and Pakistan both expressed satisfaction with the outcomes and agreed to hold the 13th Session of the Joint Ministerial Conference in Pakistan on mutually agreed-upon dates. The successful convening of the meeting underscores the deep-rooted and multifaceted relationship between Pakistan and the U.A.E. and their shared vision for a dynamic and progressive partnership, it said.
