Troops Kill 8 Terrorists in North Waziristan IBO: ISPR

Security forces have killed eight terrorists during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in North Waziristan, the military’s media wing said on Thursday.

In a statement, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said the IBO was conducted overnight on the “reported presence of terrorists in the area.” It said an intense exchange of fire took place between the security forces and Fitna al-Khawarij (Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan) during the operation and, as a result, eight terrorists were “sent to hell.”

It said the troops had also recovered weapons and ammunition from the deceased terrorists, who remained actively involved in terrorist activities against security forces and targeted innocent civilians as well. “Sanitization of the area is being carried out to eliminate any other Kharji found in the area as security forces are determined to wipe out the menace of terrorism from the country,” it added.

In a statement, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi paid tribute to security forces for killing the terrorists. In a posting on X, the Interior Ministry quoted the minister as saying that security forces took timely action to eliminate the terrorists. “Salute to the brave soldiers of the security force,” he added.

Pakistan is currently in the midst of a terror resurgence, particularly in Balochistan and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, with the government and Army both blaming the interim Afghan government’s failure to prevent its soil from being used for terrorism.
