A 16-year-old boy was killed and at least seven other civilians injured on Tuesday in a terrorist attack targeting a bank, tehsil office and other administrative buildings in the Mastung district of Balochistan.
A retaliatory response by security forces killed at least two suspected terrorists and injured three others.
Balochistan government spokesperson Shahid Rind told media the militants were affiliated with Fitna al-Hindustan—the government’s name for terrorists it alleges act as proxies of India—attacked a bank, the district tehsil office and other administrative buildings.
He said local security forces, including the Frontier Corps, Counter Terrorism Department and Levies, had responded to the attack, cordoning off the site and surrounding the terrorists. The subsequent shootout led to the killing of two militants and injured three others.
The Balochistan government said security forces had initiated a comprehensive clearance operation to neutralize any remaining threats. “The swift response by security forces effectively prevented further casualties,” wrote the spokesperson on X, adding intelligence-based operations would ensure the arrest of the remaining militants and safeguard civilian life.
