Taliban Spokesman Claims Pakistan Conducted Airstrikes in Afghanistan

Zabiullah Mujahid, the spokesman for the Afghan Taliban regime, on Tuesday claimed Pakistan had carried out overnight strikes in the neighboring country.

In a post on X, he claimed Islamabad had “bombed” Khost province and conducted airstrikes in Kunar and Paktika provinces. Pakistan has not issued any statement confirming the allegations. He claimed at least 10 people, including children and a woman, were killed in an alleged airstrike that hit a civilian house in Khost.

There was no immediate comment from Pakistani authorities on the claims.

The alleged strike occurred several hours after a suicide attack on Peshawar’s Federal Constabulary headquarters. Three personnel embraced martyrdom during the assault, while 12 people including civilians were injured.

Islamabad and Kabul currently have a ceasefire following mediation efforts from “friendly countries” arising from border clashes. Pakistan has demanded the rulers in Kabul take action to stop cross-border terrorism, but the Afghan Taliban deny Islamabad’s allegations of terrorists being allowed to use Afghan soil to carry out attacks in Pakistan.

Since the clash, both countries have suspended trade with each other, with Pakistan’s Foreign Office linking the resumption of trade to the Taliban regime ending cross-border terrorism.
