The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Thursday said security forces had killed four terrorists belonging to Fitna al-Khawarij in two separate engagements conducted on the night between June 3 and 4 in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province.
According to the military’s media wing, the intelligence-based operations (IBOs) were carried out in the Dera Ismail Khan and Mohmand districts of KP. “On the reported presence of khwarij, an intelligence-based operation was conducted by security forces in Dera Ismail Khan district. During the conduct of the operation, troops effectively engaged khwarij location, and after intense exchange of fire, two khwarij, belonging to India-sponsored Fitna al-Khwarij, were sent to hell,” it said.
In the second IBO, conducted in Mohmand, two more khwarij were neutralized, the ISPR added.
“Weapons and ammunition have also been recovered from killed khwarij, who remained actively involved in numerous terrorist activities in the area,” it said.
The statement reiterated that the relentless counter-terrorism campaign under Vision “Azm e Istehkam”—as approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan—by security forces and law enforcement agencies would continue at full pace to wipe out the menace of foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism from the country.
Pakistan has been in the midst of a terror resurgence since the Afghan Taliban returned to power in Kabul in August 2021. Islamabad accuses the interim Afghanistan government of facilitating terrorists sheltering on its soil. Afghanistan, in turn, claims terrorism is Pakistan’s internal issue.
