Security forces have killed 47 ‘khwarij’—the government’s designation of India-backed terrorists—during multiple days of operations in Balochistan’s Zhob district, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) announced on Saturday.
In a statement, the military’s media wing said troops had eliminated 33 terrorists trying to infiltrate through the Pak-Afghan border in Zhob’s Sambaza area on the night between Aug. 7-8. After eliminating these terrorists, it said, forces had initiated a sanitization operation in the surrounding area, killing 14 more terrorists.
The ISPR said security forces had recovered weapons, ammunition and explosives from the slain terrorists. “The security forces remain committed to securing the nation’s frontiers and thwarting attempts at sabotaging peace, stability and progress of Pakistan,” it added.
In separate statements, President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi have congratulated the forces for killing the militants. They have also vowed to ensure that the menace of terrorism is eliminated from Pakistan.
“Our brave soldiers risked their lives to foil this infiltration attempt and crushed the nefarious designs of the terrorists,” the prime minister said.
