Pakistan registered a record 5,438 new companies with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) in July, reflecting continued growth in formal business activity and strong participation from the technology sector.
According to the SECP, the registrations comprise 3,148 private limited companies, 2,117 single-member companies, 127 limited liability partnerships, 28 non-profit organizations, and 18 public companies.
The regulator said five foreign companies established offices in Pakistan during the month, while 112 newly registered companies included foreign directors. The foreign firms originated from Malaysia, the United Arab Emirates and China, highlighting continued international business interest in the Pakistani market.
Punjab accounted for the largest share of new registrations, with 2,756 companies, representing 51% of the total. Islamabad recorded 1,053 new companies, followed by Sindh with 864, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa with 450, Gilgit-Baltistan with 180, and Balochistan with 135.
The information technology sector led all industries with 1,008 new company registrations, underscoring the sector’s continued expansion. Other major sectors included trading with 845 companies, services with 638, construction with 348, food and beverages with 256, tourism with 207, e-commerce with 181, education with 165, real estate development with 162, and corporate agriculture with 145.
The latest figures indicate sustained momentum in company incorporations, with the I.T. sector continuing to drive new business formation while foreign investors maintain interest in establishing a presence in Pakistan.
