The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) on Thursday announced it will issue a Rs. 75 commemorative coin to mark the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Pakistan and China, with it becoming available to the public from May 25 through exchange counters of SBP Banking Services Corporation field offices.
Pakistan and China formally established diplomatic relations on May 21, 1951, laying the foundation for what both countries describe as an “all-weather strategic cooperative partnership.” In a statement, the central bank said the commemorative coin was issued in light of a government decision to celebrate 75 years of diplomatic ties between the two countries.
The coin is round in shape with serrated edges and is composed of 75% copper and 25% nickel. It weighs 19 grams and measures 36 millimeters in diameter. On the obverse side, the coin features Pakistan’s crescent and star in the center, with the words “Islami Jamhuria Pakistan” inscribed in Urdu along the upper periphery.
The year of issuance, 2026, appears below the crescent alongside wheat sprigs, while the face value “75” and the word “Rupia” in Urdu script are displayed on the right and left sides of the crescent, respectively.
The reverse side bears the inscription “75th Anniversary of Pakistan and China Diplomatic Relations” along the upper edge and the words “Trust Friendship Support” along the lower edge. The national flags of Pakistan and China are depicted in the center above an artistically designed numeral “75,” symbolizing the anniversary.
The years “1951” and “2026” appear on either side of the numeral, while inscriptions in Urdu and Chinese commemorate the 75 years of diplomatic ties and the themes of trust, friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
