Punjab Extends Summer Vacation until Aug. 31

The Punjab government on Thursday extended summer vacation for all public and private schools within the province until Aug. 31, with institutions to reopen on Sept. 1.

In an official notification, the School Education Department said the decision superseded an earlier directive to resume classes from Aug. 15.

The notification said all district education authorities had been instructed to ensure strict compliance with the revised schedule. While the notification did not specify any reason for the extension, Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat said it was taken in view of extreme weather conditions and rising temperatures.

In a statement, he noted the government had received requests from parents, school administrations, and health experts seeking a delay in resuming classes due to the persistent hot weather.

This is the second adjustment to the academic calendar this summer. Parents and students have been advised to note the revised date, while school administrations are expected to adjust their academic plans accordingly.
