PTI Ramps up Efforts for Another Street Movement in Lahore

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has announced it will launch its latest street movement from today (Friday) with a public gathering at Lahore’s Liberty Roundabout featuring Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, who is visiting the Punjab capital for three days.

In a statement, PTI Punjab chief organizer Aliya Hamza Malik said the event was in line with former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s direction to launch a “mass protest movement.” She directed all ticket-holders, office-bearers, workers and lawyers in Lahore to ensure their presence at Liberty to welcome Afridi.

The demonstration, she maintained, would work to restore the “Constitution, law and democracy” in the country. She said participation of all supporters would ensure a “historic” moment for the city.

According to the PTI, Afridi left KP for Punjab on Friday morning. During his three-day visit, he is expected to meet the party’s provincial lawmakers and workers to curry their support for the street movement. He is also scheduled to meet a group of Lahore’s journalists on Sunday.
