The Pakistan International Airlines Holding Company Limited (PIAHCL) retains 36 domestic and overseas properties while 11 assets have been transferred to the buyers of Pakistan International Airlines as part of the privatization process, according to a document of the Privatization Commission.
According to the document, available with The Standard, the retained properties include the PIA Planetariums in Karachi, Lahore and Peshawar; Football Ground Karachi; Dayal Singh Mansion Lahore; Jahangir Khan Sports Complex Karachi; and a plot in Islamabad’s Blue Area valued at Rs. 12 billion.
These assets, per the document, were transferred to PIA Holding Company through an official gazette notification (SRO 475(I)/2026) dated March 4, 2026.
Additionally, PIAHCL retains a PIA warehouse in Islamabad; sales offices in Gwadar, Multan, Muzaffarabad, Swat, Skardu, Turbat, Lahore, Faisalabad, Chitral, Hyderabad and Karachi; land for sales office in Gilgit, Sukkur, Sialkot, and Ormara. It also retains land for PIA Staff Housing Colony in Saidu Sharif; two bungalows in Karachi; a farmhouse in Abbottabad; land in Dera Ismail Khan; a housing colony in Karachi; a hospital in Karachi; a plot for a PIA Scouts Academy in Karachi; 200 acres of land in Karachi; Karachi’s Avant Hotel; New York’s Roosevelt Hotel; and Paris’ Scribe Hotel.
The 11 properties made part of the transaction are: a booking office in Rawalpindi; sales offices in Peshawar, Islamabad, and Quetta; and properties in Mumbai, New Delhi, Amsterdam, Tashkent, and New York. The total value of the 11 properties is estimated at Rs. 14.260 billion.
The Privatization Commission document also states that the properties retained by PIA Holding Company could be utilized to settle the company’s outstanding liabilities.
The document states the government expects to complete the transaction for the remaining 25% stake in PIA during the current fiscal year, with the sale projected to generate Rs. 45 billion in proceeds for the government.
