Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday strongly condemned the blatant attacks targeting Saudi Arabia a day earlier as a violation of the Gulf kingdom’s “sovereignty and territorial integrity,” while reiterating Islamabad’s “unwavering support” for the allied nation’s security.
On Monday night, Saudi Arabia announced its coalition forces had intercepted ballistic missiles fired by Houthis from Yemen to the kingdom’s southern region. In a post on X referring to the attack, P.M. Sharif said the “reprehensible actions” against Saudi Arabia had the potential to further undermine regional peace and stability.
“Pakistan reaffirms its unwavering support for the kingdom’s security and stands in complete solidarity with the brotherly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia at this critical time,” he wrote.
Sharif reiterated that Pakistan would continue to support all sincere efforts aimed at promoting peace, stability, security, and mutual understanding across the region.
Riyadh and Islamabad signed a mutual defense pact in September 2025, mandating both sides to treat any aggression against the other as an attack on both. As part of this accord, Pakistan sent fighter jets and other military forces to Saudi Arabia in April.
Analysts perceive the attack on Saudi Arabia as the opening of a new front in the ongoing U.S.-Iran conflict. However, it remains unclear if the skirmish will devolve into outright conflict.
