Pakistan Receives $3.2bn Remittances in April 2025

Pakistan recorded $3.2 billion in overseas workers’ remittances in April 2025, a 13.1% increase over the corresponding period last year, according to data released by the State Bank of Pakistan on Friday.

Cumulatively for the first 10 months of the ongoing fiscal year, remittance inflows have reached $31.2 billion, a 30.9% jump from the $23.9 billion the country received during the corresponding period of the last fiscal year. This value also marks the fifth consecutive month in which overseas workers’ remittances have crossed $3 billion.

However, April’s figure is 20.99% less than the $4.05 billion the country received in March, with analysts attributing the decline to Eidul Fitr falling in March.

According to the central bank’s data, the majority of April’s inflows came from Saudi Arabia ($725.4 million); the United Arab Emirates ($657.6 million); the United Kingdom ($535.3 million); and the United States ($302.4 million).

Analysts have attributed the sustained surge in remittances to improving economic conditions in key foreign destinations, coupled with declining inflation and a stable Pakistani rupee. Additionally, Pakistan’s macroeconomic outlook is showing early signs of stabilization, supported by monetary easing and reforms backed by the International Monetary Fund.
