Pakistan, Azerbaijan Joint Commission Aims to Boost Bilateral Cooperation

The 8th Session of the Joint Commission between Pakistan and Azerbaijan on Thursday committed to advancing collaboration across wide areas of mutual interest.

The first day of the joint commission commenced with technical-level discussions on various key sectors, including energy, transport, trade and economic cooperation, defense industry, information technology and digital governance, banking, agriculture and food security, tourism, sports, youth, culture, education and science, health, hydrometeorology, climate change, public service delivery, and social innovations. Both sides discussed mutual areas of cooperation, with significant progress made in finalizing bilateral protocols.

Economic Affairs Minister Additional Secretary Sabina Qureshi emphasized the importance of the commission in fostering stronger ties between Pakistan and Azerbaijan. A statement issued after the meeting said finalization of pending protocols would lead to tangible outcomes, paving the way for deeper cooperation. 

On Friday (tomorrow), Defense Minister Khawaja Asif and his counterpart from Azerbaijan, Vugar Valeh oglu Mustafayev, would co-chair a plenary meeting. The meeting will focus on further strengthening cooperation in defense, trade, and other strategic sectors.

Additionally, Azerbaijan’s deputy minister for science and education, as well as the deputy minister for economy, will issue statements on matters related to education, innovation, and economic development.
