Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday met a high-level Saudi business delegation led by Saudi-Pak Joint Business Council Chairman Prince Mansour bin Mohammed Al Saud, discussing avenues for economic cooperation and investment between the two countries.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office, Sharif conveyed his heartfelt respect and best wishes for Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. He also highlighted the longstanding and fraternal ties between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, adding Islamabad was keen to transform its economic relations with Saudi Arabia into a mutually beneficial strategic economic partnership in line with the vision of the Saudi crown prince.
The prime minister also recalled Prince Mansour bin Mohammed Al Saud’s previous visits to Pakistan and hoped the current visit would help build on earlier discussions and pave the way for the signing of memorandums of understanding and agreements in various sectors.
Prince Mansour expressed interest in investment opportunities in agriculture, ports, highways, airport outsourcing, real estate, energy, power distribution and information technology. Welcoming the delegation’s interest in these priority sectors, the prime minister said this was the most suitable time for enhanced cooperation between the two countries, whether through government-to-government or business-to-business partnerships.
Prince Mansour thanked the prime minister for the warm reception and reaffirmed the Saudi government and business community’s continued interest in further deepening business ties with Pakistan. During its visit, the Saudi delegation is also slated to meet senior government representatives and key private-sector stakeholders.
