No Let Up in Operation Ghazab-lil-Haq

Operation Ghazab-lil-Haq, launched in retaliation to the Afghan Taliban’s assault of several Pakistani checkposts along the Pak-Afghan border, is ongoing, with more than 400 Taliban operatives killed since Feb. 27.

In an update posted on X Sunday evening, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said Pakistani forces had killed 415 Taliban operatives and injured more than 580 others. He said airstrikes and ground assaults had destroyed 182 checkposts along the shared border, while 31 posts had been captured. At the same time, 185 tanks, armored vehicles and artillery guns have been destroyed.

Overall, per the minister, airstrikes have targeted 46 locations across Afghanistan, including in Kandahar, Kabul, Khost and Paktia.

On Monday, state-run PTV cited security sources in reporting that the armed forces had destroyed an ammunition depot in Khost. Similarly, on Sunday, Pakistani forces destroyed the Afghan Kharchar checkpost, located adjacent to the Kurram sector.

Amidst the border tensions, with the Afghan Taliban threatening to retaliate against Pakistan, the district administration in North Waziristan had shuttered 33 educational institutions, including 16 girls’ schools, as a precautionary measure.

Officials have said the move aims to ensure the safety of students, adding schools would be reopened once the security situation improves.

Similarly, around 54 government schools in Mohmand district have also been closed due to their location in vulnerable border areas and the Bajaur district administration has closed 39 public sector schools.
