Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Sunday announced the launch of visa waivers for diplomatic and official passport-holders traveling between Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates.
The mutual visa waiver was agreed upon during a June 24 meeting in Abu Dhabi between Dar and his U.A.E. counterpart, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan. At the time, the two leaders had signed a Memorandum of Understanding to make the arrangement effective 30 days after its signing.
“Am pleased to confirm that I have been informed by the U.A.E. authorities that the visa waiver for diplomatic and official Pakistani passports entering the United Arab Emirates has been activated, effective July 25, 2025, at all U.A.E. airports,” the foreign minister wrote in a posting on X.
“Am glad to also confirm that reciprocal arrangements have also been activated for U.A.E. nationals at all Pakistani airports,” he added.
The “Mutual Exemption of Entry Visa Requirements” MoU is part of measures to enhance bilateral ties. The two countries also signed an “Establishment of a Joint Task Force to Promote Investments” MoU, as well as one targeting collaborative work on “Artificial Intelligence and Digital Economy.”
Additionally, both states signed a protocol outlining procedural frameworks for follow-up actions, coordination through sectoral working groups and facilitation for reciprocal visits.
