Marginal Relief in Electricity Bills Next Month

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) on Wednesday notified a marginal reduction in electricity prices nationwide under the monthly fuel cost adjustment policy, with the benefit to apply in bills for July 2025.

According to NEPRA’s notification, the majority of the country will receive a 50 paisa/unit reduction in their bills, while Karachi’s consumers will see their bills reduce by Rs. 4.03/unit. It notes that the KE reduction pertains to April 2025, while the rest of the country is availing the May 2025 fuel cost adjustment.

NEPRA said the reduction for KE was decided on account of variation in fuel charges for April 2025 in the approved tariff of the power company, adding it would be passed onto consumers in the billing month of July 2025. The reductions would apply to all consumer categories except lifeline consumers, domestic protected consumers, electric vehicle charging stations and prepaid electricity consumers.

The regulator’s notification directs KE to show the adjustment separately in the consumers’ bills on the basis of units billed in the respective month to which the adjustment pertains.
