The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Monday announced that Lt. Gen. Muhammad Asim Malik will serve as the new chief of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), replacing Lt. Gen. Nadeem Anjum in the spymaster’s role.
According to a statement, the military’s media wing said Lt. Gen. Malik would assume his new command from Sept. 30, adding he was currently serving as the adjutant general at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi.
Previously, the senior military officer has served as the commander of the Balochistan infantry division and the infantry brigade in Waziristan. He is a previous recipient of Sword of Honor and formerly served as the chief instructor at the National Defense University, as well as an instructor at the Command and Staff College, Quetta.
The new ISI director-general is a graduate of Fort Leavenworth in the United States, as well as the Royal College of Defense Studies in London.
