Representatives of various political parties in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa on Monday agreed to adopt a singular voice against the scourge of terrorism.
In an interaction with Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen. Asim Munir in Peshawar, the politicians emphasized unflinching support for the armed forces and law enforcement agencies in the ongoing fight against terror. They also agreed on the need of a unified front beyond politics against the extremist philosophy of terrorist groups, according to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The military’s media wing said the meeting with politicians was part of a series of engagements of the Army chief during his visit to Peshawar. It said he was provided a comprehensive briefing on the prevailing security situation and ongoing counter-terror operations. Both Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also attended the briefing.
During the meeting, Gen. Munir made clear that any attempt to disturb the peace of the nation would face decisive and overwhelming force. “The enemy may try to sow discord and fear, but we will not relent,” he said. “Hostile elements will be dealt with an iron hand. They will continue to suffer heavy losses, and their capacity to inflict harm will be decimated,” he added.
Unwavering resolve
The Army chief also praised the unwavering resolve and unmatched sacrifices of Pakistan’s armed forces and law enforcement agencies, emphasizing their instrumental role in dismantling terrorist networks.
“As we stand united against the forces of evil, I am immensely proud of the remarkable achievements of our security forces. Through their dedication, courage, and supreme sacrifices, we have successfully degraded the operational capabilities of terrorist organizations, both within our borders and beyond,” he said. “Our forces have relentlessly pursued and eliminated key terrorist leaders, dismantled their infrastructure, and neutralized their cells, sending a clear message that terror has no place in our land. This war is ongoing and we would take it to its logical conclusion, InshAllah,” he added.
Gen. Munir also emphasized the relentless efforts of law enforcement agencies in ensuring the safety and security of citizens, foiling numerous attacks, and maintaining peace and order. He highlighted that every operation has been a testament to the courage, professionalism, and operational readiness of the security forces, who continue to thwart the evolving threats posed by terrorists.
The ISPR said the COAS had also lauded the exceptional morale of troops, who remain steadfast in their commitment to safeguard the sovereignty of the nation. He affirmed that Pakistan’s armed forces and law enforcement agencies stand as an unbreakable force, resolute in their mission to protect the motherland and its people.
Earlier, upon his arrival, the Corps Commander Peshawar received the COAS.
