Interior Minister Transfers Bulletproof Vehicles to Balochistan after KP Objection

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Thursday approved the immediate dispatch of bulletproof vehicles to Balochistan after the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government refused to accept them over their “substandard” quality.

In a post on X, Naqvi responded to a request from Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti, who expressed a desire for the vehicles rejected by KP. “Like Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan is also affected by terrorism,” he wrote. “An appeal to the interior minister that if the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government is refusing to acquire bulletproof vehicles, then they should be transferred to the Balochistan government so that terrorism can be effectively countered,” he added.

Accepting the request, the interior minister wrote: “CM Sahib done. These bulletproof vehicles will be sent to Balochistan immediately to enhance counter-terrorism efforts. Thank you for raising this.”

Earlier this week, KP Chief Minister Sohail Afridi said his government was returning bulletproof vehicles granted to the KP Police by the center because they were “substandard and outdated.” Criticizing the interior ministry, he described the allocated vehicles as “an insult” to the police force.
