Information Ministry Rejects Claims of Pak-Afghan Border Fence Removal

The Information Ministry on Wednesday dismissed claims from Afghans on social media alleging the forcible removal of fencing along the Pak-Afghan border, dubbing it “fabricated and devoid of facts.”

In a post on its official “fact check” X account, the ministry strongly condemned the claims, alleging mouthpieces of the interim Afghanistan government and India’s Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) issued them.

The post noted the Pak-Afghan border spans over 2,640 kilometers of rugged landscape, claiming it is solely guarded by Pakistan, while the Afghan Taliban collude with infiltration attempts of terrorists, smugglers and criminal mafia. Referring to the Nov. 29 press conference by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Lt. Gen. Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, it said the border’s complex dynamics had been explained by relevant security officials.

Maintaining the video clips of fence removal circulating online were “staged” and “outdated” clips uploaded by the interim Afghanistan government, it claimed this was part of propaganda. The creation of such content, it said, confirmed not only the cowardly nature of terrorists and the Afghan Taliban, but also how they lived in a make-believe world of propaganda and deceit.

The post asserted that the Pak-Afghan border fence remains fully intact, warning that any attempt to remove it has received an immediate, heavy and disproportionate response. It said the lies were issued by the interim Afghanistan government to satisfy their domestic audience after they lost more than 250 border posts, along with the capture of dozens of posts by Pakistan’s law enforcement agencies during Operation Ghazab-lil-Haq.

“Any claims by the Afghan Taliban or their media cannot be trusted,” the ministry added.
