Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan on Tuesday refused to undergo polygraph, photogrammetry and voice matching tests, as Lahore police attempted to interrogate him over his alleged involvement in cases related to the May 9 riots.
A team of the Punjab Forensic Science Agency, accompanied by police officials, reached Adiala Jail to conduct the interrogation and tests, but reportedly Khan initially refused to respond to any queries, expressing distrust in authorities and demanding access to his lawyers. However, after some cajoling, he answered some of their questions but still refused to commit to any tests, stating that he would give police time for them at a “later” stage.
This marked the second visit to Adiala Jail by Lahore police. Officials had similarly attempted to investigate Khan’s alleged role in the May 9 riots on Monday, but he had refused to cooperate with them. Khan is currently on physical remand in cases related to the May 9 riots to allow police to investigate him.
Local media has reported that Khan’s unwillingness to cooperate has been conveyed to senior police officials, who would devise a fresh strategy to secure his version of events after consultation with the prosecution department.
