Imran Khan Criticizes Judiciary in Eid Talk with Sons

Incarcerated former Prime Minister Imran Khan spoke with his sons Kasim and Sulaiman via telephone on Eid day, directing them to relay a message criticizing the judiciary, who he said should be “ashamed” of themselves.

According to Adiala Jail sources, the conversation lasted 25-30 minutes, during which the sons inquired about their father’s health. Kasim confirmed the conversation in a post on X, saying his father had asked him to relay a message.

“The judges in this country should be ashamed of themselves,” read the message shared by Kasim. “Time and time again we have gone to the judiciary. But they have sold their souls for their paid personal privileges. They have sold their integrity,” Khan reportedly told his son.

During the conversation, Khan alleged “they” were treating his wife, Bushra, “inhumanely” to “blackmail” him. “She spends 24 hours a day in isolation, except for 30 minutes with me per week—and even that is often ignored. It is un-Islamic to harm women, children and the elderly—and their motives are plain and clear. The judges are responsible for the justice in a society. They should be ashamed of themselves,” he added.

Eye treatment

Separately, jail authorities said the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder received a third injection in his right eye at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS). According to the hospital administration, he is in stable condition.

According to the PIMS statement, Khan was brought to the hospital on March 23. “After obtaining informed consent and under standard monitoring, adopting all standard precautionary measures and protocols in the operation theater, he was injected with the third dose of intravitreal injection of Anti VEGF under guidance of microscopy by the surgeons,” it said, adding the procedure was performed as a day-care surgery.

“During the course of his stay, he remained vitally stable before, during and after the procedure and was discharged along with instructions for further care and follow-up advice and documents,” it said.

One of Khan’s lawyers, acting as amicus curiae, had previously told the Supreme Court that the vision in the former prime minister’s right eye had significantly deteriorated. The PTI and his family have demanded the party founder be granted access to his personal physicians and family, rejecting his ongoing treatment.
