Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan was arrested on Monday in seven new cases linked to protests of his party in October and November.
Upon the completion of his physical remand in a separate case pertaining to a September protest, the former prime minister was presented before an Anti-Terrorism Court judge at Adiala jail, where he has been incarcerated since September 2023. The prosecution team did not seek any extension in the physical remand.
However, during the hearing, Rawalpindi Police arrested Khan in the seven new cases pertaining to unrest during PTI protests on Oct. 5 and Nov. 24. It also arrested him in another case linked to the Rawalpindi demonstration of September. The prosecution team did not seek Khan’s physical custody in any of the new cases. The PTI founder was subsequently sent on judicial remand in all the cases.
The new cases accuse Khan of giving calls for protests from incarceration, resulting in several violent incidents.
