I.T. Sector’s Exports Climb to $437m in December 2025

Pakistan’s information technology sector posted its highest-ever monthly exports in December 2025, surpassing $400 million for the first time, according to data issued by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).

The central bank said I.T. exports rose to $437 million in December 2025, up from $348 million in the same month a year earlier, a 25% year-on-year increase. Exports were also more than 22% higher than the $356 million recorded in November, it added.

Prior to December 2025, the previous monthly record was $386 million from October 2025.

An I.T. exporter said consistent government policies had helped sustain export growth, with expectations of further expansion through joint efforts by the public and private sectors. He said I.T. companies are exploring new markets, particularly in Gulf countries, while boosting exports of emerging technologies in traditional markets to increase overall volumes.

He added that the current momentum is likely to translate into additional growth in the coming months. Freelancers, he said, are playing a critical role in bringing I.T. remittances into the country. Training programs offered by public-sector institutions and non-governmental organizations are steadily increasing the number of freelancers and their contribution to the economy, he added.

During the first half of the ongoing financial year, I.T. exports have climbed to $2.23 billion, compared with $1.86 billion in the same period from July to December last year, a 19.5% increase.

With six months remaining in the financial year, I.T. exports could reach between $4.2 billion and $4.5 billion if the current pace continues, industry representatives said.
