Foreign Office Slams ‘Deplorable’ Indian Remarks on Pahalgam Incident

The Foreign Office on Thursday described as “deplorable” India’s campaign of baseless allegations and propaganda aiming to link Pakistan with the April 2025 Pahalgam incident.

“At a time when Pakistan, along with its international partners, is undertaking concerted diplomatic efforts for regional and international peace and security, it is deplorable that India has once again resorted to a campaign of baseless allegations and propaganda to link Pakistan with the Pahalgam incident,” it said in a statement responding to the Indian Army’s remarks on its anniversary.

After the Pahalgam attacks, which killed 26 people, India swiftly blamed Pakistan without any evidence. Subsequently, Delhi launched an unprovoked attack on Pakistan, triggering a war that ended through a U.S. brokered ceasefire after the downing of seven Indian fighter jets.

“It is unfortunate that, in the midst of an ongoing regional crisis, India remains focused on weaponizing its false narrative against Pakistan for narrow domestic political gains,” the Foreign Office continued. “After receiving a befitting reply to its misplaced adventurism in the form of Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos last year, such allegations constitute yet another chapter from India’s playbook of creating a smokescreen for its continued sponsorship of terrorism across the region,” it added.

The statement asserted that such propaganda could not divert the global attention from India’s ongoing “occupation of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and its denial of the right to self-determination to the Kashmiris, in violation of relevant U.N. resolutions.”

These same gimmicks, it said, cannot hide India’s attempts to “undermine regional peace and security by resorting to inflammatory rhetoric, repeated provocations, and aggressive military posturing, including its illegal unilateral action to hold the Indus Waters Treaty in abeyance, in clear violation of international law.”

The Foreign Office hoped the international community would impress on India the need to demonstrate responsible behavior and refrain from all rhetoric and actions that may spoil ongoing efforts for regional and international peace and security.
