The Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday summoned the Afghan Charge d’Affaires and issued a strong demarche over last week’s terrorist attack on a Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) camp in Karachi that resulted in the deaths of three Rangers personnel.
In a statement, the Foreign Office said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs had summoned the Afghan envoy the previous night and issued a strong demarche regarding the attack. It said a similar demarche was simultaneously conveyed by Ambassador Ubaidur Rehman Nizamani to the Afghan Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kabul.
“These demarches were issued in light of the fact that Afghan nationals, including one apprehended alive, participated in this attack, proving yet again that Afghan soil and Afghan nationals continue to be used to orchestrate terrorist attacks inside Pakistan,” the statement added.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), three Rangers personnel were martyred and four others injured after militants of “Indian proxy” Jamaatul Ahrar launched an assault on the Karachi site on Saturday night.
The military’s media wing said the assailants had detonated explosives at the main gate of the camp before attempting to breach the perimeter security. Foiling the attack, Rangers eliminated three militants and captured one, identified as an Afghan national.
