Security forces have killed five terrorists during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Balochistan’s Pishin district, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Monday.
In a statement, the military’s media wing said the troops had effectively engaged the “entire tashkeel with multiple weapons,” resulting in an intense fire exchange. A suicide bomber, it said, had detonated himself during the exchange, while four other India-sponsored khwarij “were hunted down and sent to hell.”
The ISPR said authorities had recovered weapons, ammunition and explosives from the khwarij, who remained actively involved in numerous terrorist activities in the area. It said sanitization operations were underway in the area to eliminate any other Indian sponsored terrorists there.
“Relentless counter-terrorism campaign under Vision Azm-e-Istehkam by security forces and law enforcement agencies will continue at full pace to wipe out menace of foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism from the country,” it said.
Pakistan has been in the midst of a terror resurgence, particularly in the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan provinces, since the Afghan Taliban returned to power in August 2021. Authorities have also repeatedly alleged that India is funding and facilitating terrorism in Balochistan, boosting unrest in the province.
