Security forces killed at least five militants in separate incidents across Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, according to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
According to the military’s media wing, security forces conducted a joint intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Mohmand district, killing three militants. It said troops had recovered a large cache of arms, ammunition, and explosives during the operation, adding constable Abrar Hussain, a resident of district Swabi, had embraced martyrdom during an intense exchange of gunfire.
Separately, read the statement, an IBO in Dera Ismail Khan resulted in the death of militant Sifatullah alias Mullah Mansoor, while three others were injured. Describing Sifatullah as a wanted man, the ISPR alleged he was involved in various numerous militant activities in the area and had facilitated the suicide bombing in Daraban on Dec. 12, 2023.
In a third IBO, security forces engaged militants in North Waziristan, killing one militant.
“Pakistan’s security forces stand shoulder to shoulder with other law enforcement agencies to ensure peace and stability across Pakistan and such sacrifices of our brave men further strengthen our resolve,” read the statement.
