The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Friday registered a case against PTI founder Imran Khan for allegedly inciting government officers to mutiny and spreading anarchy, with Information Minister Ataullah Tarar claiming a post on the former prime minister’s official X account undermined national security.
“He [Khan] should be ashamed of undermining national security, inciting people to anarchy and committing sedition,” Tarar told journalists, adding the FIA would investigate who was handling the social media accounts of the PTI founder and whether posts on it while he’s incarcerated are made at his behest or on someone else’s directions.
Reportedly, a four-member FIA team comprising investigation and technical officers visited Adiala Jail to question Khan about his controversial post, but were refused cooperation by the PTI founder unless his lawyers were also present. The team is expected to visit Adiala Jail again today (Saturday) for another attempt at interrogating the PTI founder.
According to Tarar, Khan had earlier attempted to conspire against the sitting chief justice and heads of other institutions, calling on people to mobilize in a condemnable manner. He said such conspiracies were destined to fail, as they did not reflect reality.
The information minister said the PTI founder’s latest post had once again likened him to Sheikh Mujeebur Rehman, without realizing how the Bangladesh founder was regarded within his own country at this point in time.
