FBR Misses August Tax Collection Target by Rs. 65bn

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has missed its tax collection target for August 2025, collecting a provisional total of Rs. 886 billion against the assigned target of Rs. 951 billion, a shortfall of Rs. 65 billion.

The latest data shows the FBR has collected Rs. 1,650.5 billion during the first two months (July–August) of the current fiscal year, falling short of its cumulative target of Rs. 1,698 billion by Rs. 47.5 billion.

Despite the shortfall, tax authorities remain optimistic, expecting the final August collection figure to exceed Rs. 900 billion after book adjustments and end-of-month collections. To support this, FBR field offices would remain open on Aug. 30-31 (Friday and Saturday) to facilitate taxpayers and maximize end-month receipts.

For the first quarter of FY2025–26 (July–September), the FBR has set a collection target of Rs. 3.08 trillion, including Rs. 950 billion for August and Rs. 1,385 billion for September.
