Police in Faisalabad have directed all shopkeepers, departmental stores, wholesale markets, shopping malls, and other commercial establishments to install CCTV cameras within one month in a bid to deter child sexual abuse and improve public safety.
In an order issued by City Police Officer Tanveer Hussain, businesses have been warned to comply with the directive or risk legal action, including the registration of criminal cases and the sealing of their premises.
The initiative follows a significant rise in reported cases of child sexual abuse across Faisalabad. According to official statistics, 330 cases of sexual abuse of minor boys and girls have been reported Faisalabad during the first six months of 2026—25 in Lyallpur Town; 80 in Madina Town; 71 in Iqbal Division; 82 in Jaranwala Division; and 72 in Sadar Division.
Of these cases, 154 are pending in courts while 118 remain under investigation.
In a statement to media, CPO Hussain said the installation of CCTV cameras would not only help deter child sexual abuse, but would curb incidents of theft, robbery, and other crimes. He urged the business community to support the initiative, noting it would protect them from legal action and contribute to public security.
