Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director-General Lt. Gen. Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry on Tuesday shared “irrefutable” evidence of Indian-sponsored terrorism in Pakistan in a seeming rebuttal to Delhi’s attempt to link Islamabad to the Pahalgam attack in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
He told a media briefing he wanted to share details of “one particular situation” regarding the ongoing standoff between the neighboring nations. “India is involved in state-sponsored cross-border terrorism against Pakistan,” he said. “It has been seven days since the Pahalgam attack, yet not a single shred of evidence has been provided to substantiate the baseless allegations levelled against Pakistan,” he continued.
Rather, he stressed, India has been found operating terror networks inside Pakistan, supplying explosives, IEDs, and other lethal materials to terrorists with the intent to target not only security forces but also innocent civilians. “This irrefutable evidence is just one small component of the broader pattern of state-sponsored terrorism being orchestrated by India,” he added.
According to Chaudhry, authorities apprehended a terror suspect trained in India near the Jhelum bus terminal on April 25. Security forces also recovered 2.5 kilograms of explosive material from the bus stand, he said. Identifying the suspect as Abdul Majeed, the military spokesman said he possessed an Indian drone at his residence. Additionally, Rs. 1 million in cash was seized from his home.
The ISPR DG said forensic analysis of the suspect’s mobile phone revealed communication with contacts in India, including direct conversations with Indian Subedar Sukhwinder. He alleged India is actively supplying explosives to terrorists for attacks on both civilians and security personnel inside Pakistan.
Lt. Gen. Chaudhry further said intercepted communications had revealed that four Indian Army officers were involved in terrorism-related coordination, identifying them as Major Sandeep Verma, Subedar Sukhwinder, Havaldar Amit, and one sepoy. These Indian handlers, he alleged, were instructing terrorists to “cause civilian casualties in Pakistan” and to “carry out attacks so the world perceives Pakistan as a hub of terrorism.” He claimed the handlers had sent videos explaining how to make bombs.
Playing several audio clips in support of his allegations, the ISPR DG said Major Sandeep had admitted to orchestrating terrorism from “Balochistan to Lahore.” Subedar Sukhwinder, he said, guided Abdul Majeed to a location near Head Marala on Nov. 22 to retrieve an IED and a damaged drone. On Nov. 30, Majeed planted the IED on a military vehicle in Jalalpur Jattan, resulting in four martyrdoms. Following the completion of the task, he received Rs. 656,000, he added.
On March 18, Major Sukhwinder provided the location of another IED near Kotli. The next day, schoolchildren spotted a suspicious bag in the area. An army unit responded and recovered a bomb from the site, said Lt. Gen. Chaudhry. After that bomb was recovered, Indian media falsely claimed that five bombs were discovered in IIOJK, which the DG ISPR described as blatant propaganda.
On April 22, Sukhwinder delivered another IED near Nadalah. The next day, he instructed Majeed to carry out a bomb attack at a local bus stand, the ISPR chief added.
The military spokesman specifically cited the killing of 54 Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan fighters during a recent cross-border attack attempt from Afghanistan. He said the attack by the TTP’s largest formation was “sponsored, facilitated, and abetted by India.”
New Delhi linked Islamabad to the Pahalgam attack without offering any evidence. It then downgraded ties with Islamabad, suspended the Indus Waters Treaty, revoked the visas of Pakistanis, and closed the Wagah-Attari border crossing. Pakistan, in response, ordered the expulsion of Indian diplomats and military advisers, canceled visas for Indian nationals other than Sikh pilgrims, and closed the main border crossing from its side. It also closed its airspace for Indian airlines.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced Pakistan is willing to cooperate with a credible and transparent investigation.
