Cement Dispatches See 11.14% Boost in April

Cement dispatches increased by 11.14% to 3.89 million tons in April, up from 3.5 million tons dispatched in the same month last year, according to data issued by the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA).

The representative body of cement manufacturers said local dispatches last month reached 3.217 million tons against 2.677 million tons dispatched in April 2025, an increase of 20.17%. At the same time, exports declined by a massive 18.22% from 823,032 tons in April 2025 to 673,058 tons last month.

North-based cement mills dispatched 2.662 million tons cement domestically in April 2026, 18.25% higher than the 2.251 million tons dispatched in the same month last year. They did not dispatch any exports.

South-based mills dispatched 555,104 tons of cement in local markets during April 2026, 30.35% more than the 425,869 tons dispatched in April 2025. Exports from the South declined by 5.01% to 673,058 tons last month against 708,565 tons during the same month in 2025.  Total dispatches by South-based cement mills hit 1.228 million tons, 8.26% higher than the 1.134 million tons dispatched in April 2025.

In the first 10 months of FY26, total domestic and export cement dispatches reached 42.396 million tons, 9.83% higher than then 38.6 million tons dispatched in the corresponding period of last fiscal year. Domestic dispatches during this period were 34.785 million tons, 11.33% higher than the 31.244 million tons of the same period last year. Export dispatches clocked in at 3.47% higher, going from 7.355 million tons last year to 7.611 million tons during the first 10 months of the ongoing fiscal year.

Of these figures, North-based mills dispatched 29.014 million tons of cement domestically during the first 10 months of FY26, 12.56% higher than 25.778 million tons dispatched July 2024-April 2025. Exports from North mills, however, declined by 35.39% from 1.234 million tons to 797,679 tons. Nonetheless, total dispatches increased by 10.36% to 29.812 million tons during first 10 months of FY26.

Domestic dispatches by South-based mills in July 2025-April 2026 hit 5.771 million tons, 5.56% higher than the 5.467 million tons dispatched during the same period last fiscal year. Exports from South mills increased by 11.31%, going from 6.121 million tons in the first 10 months of FY25 to 6.813 million tons this fiscal year. Total dispatches by South-based mills during the first 10 months of FY26 increased by 8.6% to 12.584 million tons against the 11.587 million tons of the corresponding period of FY25.

An APCMA spokesman said the industry expects the geopolitical situation to improve in the coming weeks, strengthening the global economy and reducing energy uncertainty. “We also anticipate industry friendly policies from our government in the coming federal budget to provide competitiveness in our operations,” he added.
