Overall cement demand grew during the fiscal year ending June 30, with data released by the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA) displaying a 7.21% increase from 47.116 million tons to 50.515 million tons.
In a statement, the APCMA said local sales during the past fiscal year had increased from 37.906 million tons to 41.507 million tons, an increase of 9.5%. Export dispatches, however, declined by 2.19% from 9.210 million tons to 9.008 million tons.
In June, read the statement, total cement dispatches clocked in at 4.331 million tons, 18.38% higher than the 3.658 million tons dispatched in the same month last year. Of these, local dispatches were recorded at 3.541 million tons against 2.793 million tons of June 2025, an increase of 26.78%. Exports, however, declined by 8.73% from 865,387 tons in June 2025 to 789,840 tons in June 2026.
Last month, North-based mills dispatched 3.019 million tons of cement, 16.39% higher than the 2.594 million tons dispatched in June 2025. South-based mills dispatched 1.31 million tons of cement in June 2026, 23.23% higher than the 1.065 million tons dispatched in June 2025.
North-based mills dispatched 3.019 million tons of cement domestically in June 2026, 26.53% higher than the 2.386 million tons dispatched in June 2025. South-based mills dispatched 522,021 tons of cement locally in June 2026, 28.24% higher than the 407,069 tons dispatched during June 2025.
North-based mills reported no exports in June 2026, while exports from the South jumped by 20.12% to 789,840 tons against 657,527 tons during the same month of last year.
During FY26, North-based mills dispatched 34.720 million tons of cement domestically, 10.83% higher than the 31.329 million tons dispatched in FY25. Exports from the North declined by 53.85% to 777,207 tons against the 1.683 million tons exported in the previous fiscal year. Total dispatched by North-based mills increased by 7.53%, going from 33.013 million tons in FY25 to 35.498 million tons in FY26.
Domestic dispatched by South-based mills in FY26 reached 6.787 million tons, 3.18% over the 6.577 million tons dispatched in FY25. Exports from the South also increased by 9.36%, from 7.526 million tons last year to 8.230 million tons this year. Total dispatched by South-based mills increased by 6.48%, rising to 15.017 million tons during FY26 against 14.104 million tons in FY25.
An APCMA spokesman expressed optimism for rising cement demand in the coming months, both domestic and international. He hoped the collective efforts of all stakeholders to amicably resolve geopolitical tensions would result in competitive and stable energy supplies and address the concerns of high energy and fuel costs.
