Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and Chief of Defense Forces (CDF) Field Marshal Asim Munir on Friday visited the Pakistan Ordnance Factory in Wah, reviewing its production capabilities and indigenization efforts, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
In a statement, the military’s media wing said the Army chief’s visit focused on reviewing the factory’s production capabilities, export potential and contributions towards the country’s defense industrial base.
During the visit, the field marshal received a briefing on various aspects of the ordnance factory’s operations and its role in strengthening national defense through the indigenous development and production of a diverse range of military equipment.
The Army chief also witnessed tests and trials of locally designed and manufactured arms and ammunition, highlighting the complex’s commitment to innovation, self-reliance and enhancing the country’s defense production capabilities, said ISPR.
The field marshal was also presented with an overview of the progress on the corporatization process following the enactment of the Defense Industrial Production and Regulatory Authority of Pakistan Ordinance, it added. He was additionally apprised about the ongoing indigenization and upgradation efforts through the installation of two new industrial plants, likely to commence production by the end of the ongoing year.
The visit underscored the military’s commitment to advancing self-reliance, indigenous production and technological innovation in the country’s defense sector, said ISPR.
