Bilal bin Saqib Appointed PVARA Chairman

Bilal bin Saqib, Minister of State for Crypto and Blockchain, has stepped down as Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Blockchain and Crypto after being appointed Pakistan Virtual Asset Regulatory Authority (PVARA) chairman for a three-year term on an honorary basis.

As per Rules of Business, 1973, a SAPM cannot simultaneously serve as chairman of a statutory regulatory authority.

Under the terms of the new appointment, Saqib will carry out the responsibilities of PVARA chairman without a salary. The position also carries the status equivalent to a Minister of State.

The federal government had appointed Saqib a SAPM in May 2025.
