The Punjab government last week granted provincial Information Minister Azma Bokhari with the additional charge of the culture ministry.
In a notification dated July 5, the Services and General Administration Department said the additional charge would continue until further orders. “In exercise of the powers conferred on her under Rule 3(5) of the Punjab Government Rules of Business, 2011, chief minister is pleased to assign additional portfolio/department of ‘culture’ to Azma Zahid Bokhari, minister for information, in addition to her own duties, till further orders,” it said.
A Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) stalwart, Bokhari has been serving as the Punjab information minister in Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s cabinet since the formation of government earlier this year. She was elected to the Punjab Assembly after the 2024 general election on a reserved seat for women.
