Army Helicopter Crashes Near Muzaffarabad

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Wednesday announced an Mi-17 helicopter of the Pakistan Army Aviation had crashed near Muzaffarabad during take-off due to a “technical” fault.

In a statement, the military’s media wing said all personnel on board the helicopter had embraced shahadat. “There were no survivors,” it added.

“Rescue and recovery teams immediately reached the crash site,” it said. The ISPR noted that a board of inquiry had been ordered to ascertain the exact technical cause of the accident.

“[Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defense Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir] and all ranks of the Pakistan Army express deep grief over the tragic loss of precious lives and extend heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families,” it added.
