Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Asim Munir on Tuesday emphasized that the state is taking all necessary actions to pursue India-backed terrorists perpetuating violence in Balochistan, adding authorities will rid the province of this menace.
Addressing the 17th National Workshop Balochistan at General Headquarters in Rawalpindi, he said Fitna al-Hindustan and Fitna al-Khawarij are propagating anti-people and anti-development agendas in Balochistan with malicious intent to perpetrate violence. Describing Balochistan as the pride of Pakistan, he said the region was endowed with vibrant, resilient and patriotic people who are its true wealth.
He highlighted the federal and provincial governments’ development initiatives, aimed at uplifting the province’s socioeconomic landscape through a people-centric approach. There is a great need to realize its immense economic potential, he added.
Acknowledging the constructive role of civil society, particularly in engaging and empowering the youth, he underscored their pivotal role in ensuring sustainable development and countering vested political agendas for the long-term prosperity of Balochistan.
The field marshal reaffirmed that though Pakistan seeks regional peace and stability, it would not hesitate to deliver a firm and decisive response to any violation of its territorial integrity to safeguard the lives and well-being of its citizens.
The workshop concluded with an interactive question and answer session between the Army chief and participants.
