Army Chief Discusses Defense Cooperation with Saudi Crown Prince

Pakistan Army chief Gen. Asim Munir on Wednesday met Saudi Arabia Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and discussed bilateral issues, including defense and security cooperation, according to the military’s media wing.

In a statement, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said the Saudi crown prince had warmly welcomed the Chief of Army Staff upon his arrival at the Royal Palace in Riyadh, where the latter is currently on an official visit.

Both dignitaries engaged in a “comprehensive discussion on a range of issues of mutual interest, including regional peace, defense and security cooperation, and strategies for enhancing bilateral relations.”

The military’s media wing said Gen. Munir had expressed his gratitude to the Saudi crown prince for his “steadfast support” of Pakistan and acknowledged his significant role in fostering peace and stability across the region.

As part of his engagements in Saudi Arabia, the Army chief also met Saudi Defense Minister Prince Khalid Bin Salman, with both vowing to continue strengthening cooperation between Islamabad and Riyadh in the domain of defense and security.

Gen. Munir’s visit to Saudi Arabia followed a recent visit of Prime Minister Shehbaz Shari, during which he had also met the Saudi crown prince and reviewed ongoing bilateral engagements, especially related to trade and investment.
