Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen. Asim Munir on Tuesday visited Wana in South Waziristan district and vowed that the Pakistan Army will continue to support law enforcement agencies in enhancing their capacity to tackle militancy in the country.
According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Army chief received a comprehensive briefing on the prevailing security situation, ongoing counter-terrorism operations, and development initiatives upon his arrival to Wana. It said he had appreciated the high level of preparedness and exceptional morale to counter hostile threats during his interactions with officers and troops. He also reaffirmed the Pakistan Army’s unwavering commitment to thwarting the nefarious designs of hostile forces and their facilitators.
Paying heartfelt tribute to security forces and law enforcement agencies who have paid the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty, he emphasized that the Pakistan Army would continue to provide steadfast support and technical assistance to law enforcement agencies, particularly Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Police, to enhance their capacity for effectively tackling militancy.
Gen. Munir also acknowledged the pivotal role played by the people of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa in maintaining peace and advancing various projects under the South Waziristan Integrated Development Plan. He stressed the Pakistan Army was dedicated toward leveraging its resources for the prosperity and development of the people of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. He also expressed his gratitude to tribal elders for their invaluable support in combating terrorism and their unwavering backing of the Pakistan Army.
Earlier, according to the ISPR, the COAS honored the martyred by laying a floral wreath at the Shuhada Monument in Wana. Upon his arrival, it said, the Commander Peshawar Corps warmly received the Army chief.
