The Lahore Arts Council this week inked an agreement with the National Commission on the Rights of the Child (NCRC) to collaborate on cultural programming aimed at highlighting the rights of children through various forms of self expression, including art, music and plays.
Signed by Lahore Arts Council Chairman Razi Ahmed on behalf of Alhamra and Ayesha Raza Farooq, chairperson of the NCRC, the agreement calls for joint cultural programs that raise public awareness about child protection and welfare, particularly through plays, music, art and other media.
The two institutions have also vowed to join hands in this important field so children across Pakistan are encouraged to become more confident and play a constructive role in the wider society.
Under Section 15 of the NCRC Act, the organization is tasked with raising awareness about children’s rights in society and educating the public on methods of protection. As part of this goal, the agreement with the Lahore Arts Council aims to expand its outreach utilizing the platform of the Alhamra, based on Lahore’s Upper Mall Road.
